this is me.....

In the late eighties I worked as a  writer for a local christian magazine before becoming the Assistant Editor. I then went on to work as a freelance writer for women's magazines as well as publishing poems in a few small poetry publications.  

 

After six years of freelancing I then began thinking about the more 'creative' side of writing, in particular having been inspired by authors such as Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, Jackie Kay to name a few, I started to explore the idea of joining a creative writing group. As I couldn't find one that was local to my area I decided to create one myself. After constructing a 12 week course complete with lesson plans, I approached the Head of Arts & Library Service in Lewisham, South London with the idea. These ran successfully for several years & some of my students went on to win national & international literary prizes in their own right.

 

Along the way through my life's journey & the struggles that go hand in hand with raising a child single-handedly, I somehow felt the need to let go of my dream of writing. I went off to work as a PA/Executive Assistant in the NHS for over ten years but I couldn't seem to evade my love, desire & passion for writing. So after much prayer I decided it was 'now or never' & left my secure full-time job to pursue my dream....

 

As I write this it has been over one year since I started on my dream journey. Things have not been easy, the orginal plans I made got changed several times over, but at every turn God has been there to meet me in amazing ways, connecting me with people, covering me with His goodness, kindness and provision. It was definitely worth stepping out in faith for....
